I spent my entire career in women's health and wellness- Stanford BA in Psychology and Human Biology and Master in Public Health from UC Berkeley - and still found myself completely blindsided by perimenopause in my early 40s! There I was, battling fatigue that doctors missed for YEARS before finally connecting it to my fluctuating hormones and thyroid problems!

And then? The medication they prescribed actually made everything worse! Extreme fatigue, total brain fog, anxiety that wouldn't quit, and sleepless nights. As an entrepreneur, I was terrified watching my health and business crumble simultaneously.

But here's the thing—that rock-bottom moment changed everything. I became obsessed with finding natural solutions to balance my wildly swinging hormones, diving deep into research about how stress management, diet, exercise, sleep and rest could support my endocrine system during this transition. When my energy and mood finally rebounded by addressing the hormonal root causes, I knew I had to share what I'd learned. Because no woman should have to struggle alone through this hormonal rollercoaster like I did.

It All Started When I turned 40...

 

Almost overnight, I started experiencing thinning hair, breast tenderness so painful I had to wear a high impact bra for yoga, and mood swings that were full-on hormonal rage that I haven’t felt since I was 15. Add in nightly sleep disruptions, crushing fatigue, constant anxiety, and a brain fog so thick I could barely remember my to-do list, and I felt like I was losing myself.

The worst part? When I finally gathered the courage to ask for help, my gynecologist essentially told me to "suck it up" – my symptoms weren't "severe enough" for hormone therapy. And with my family history of breast cancer, I "wasn't a good candidate anyway." When my hair was falling out and I requested a full thyroid panel, my primary care doctor only tested my TSH (which came back "normal") and dismissed everything as "just stress and aging."

It took YEARS of being my own advocate – countless tests, numerous visits to specialists – before getting my thyroid condition properly diagnosed. I thought diagnosis would be my turning point, but the prescribed anti-thyroid medication shut down my entire body.  The fatigue became so debilitating that I could only manage one activity each day. I literally alternated making a green smoothie one day with taking a shower the next because I couldn't do both. For six weeks, I barely left my bed, and it took nine months to resemble anything close to my former self.

As a business owner, this devastated my work. Brain fog limited me to working a few hours weekly, doing just enough to survive. I made an error on a client spreadsheet that I never would have made before, damaging an important relationship. 

But Then Everything Changed...

I enrolled in Dr. Sara Gottfried's course on perimenopause and discovered how lifestyle changes could dramatically reduce symptoms without medication. This became my lifeline.  I started with my mindset – embracing that my body was sending crucial messages I needed to hear. The "go-go-go" startup hustle culture that had defined my career had to go. I replaced "I'll sleep when I'm dead" with "I rest when I'm tired" instead of reaching for yet another caffeine fix.

I recommitted myself to meditation, gratitude practices, and energy medicine to manage stress. I overhauled my diet, eliminating dairy and increasing protein. Gentle movement became my foundation – walking, yoga, and pilates slowly rebuilding my strength. To combat brain fog, I joined a book club, took a ballet class, and prioritized time outdoors.

The results were nothing short of miraculous. Within months, my insomnia disappeared – my Oura ring now regularly shows sleep scores above 90. Energy returned gradually but steadily, allowing me to add strength training twice weekly and cardio 2-3 times weekly on top of yoga and pilates. Last fall, I achieved what once seemed impossible: biking the Whole Enchilada trail in Moab, Utah – a grueling nine-hour adventure!

The brain fog, anxiety, and depression lifted like storm clouds after rain. My moods stabilized, leaving me feeling calm, clear-headed, and motivated. This transformation inspired me to complete my health and wellness coaching certification and launch my purpose-driven business as a perimenopause coach.

 Now I'm able to help women reclaim mental clarity, energy & confidence without hormones.
